Renee M Review of Plimoth Plantation
My husband and I have been to the historical villa...
My husband and I have been to the historical villages of Williamsburg, Virginia and Mystic, Connecticut, and I think the Plimoth Plantation is even better executed than they are.
The outstanding thing about the Plimoth village is the actors. Be sure to engage them and ask them questions about their lives as settlers. Don't limit your questions to the physical dwellings and artifacts.
The setting is 1627. Each settler has a complex persona, based upon real Plymouth settlers from that year. They have learned the language and English accents as they were spoken at the time. An example if that one man said the word, "shoen" instead of shoes. They say "aye" instead of "yes."
The other side of the plantation is the Indian village, which we found interesting. The people in the village are descendants of a tribe of Native Americans, who honor the practices of their forefathers. They will demonstrate authentic Native American crafts of that time period.
