Villas Sol was very dated and less than welcoming.
Checking in was a hassle, we got there at 2:45 and instead of giving us our all inclusive bracelets they gave us guest bracelets and had us come back in 15 mins... that pettiness was the theme of the hotel.
Rooms were nice but dated. The balcony is EXTREMELY slippery, there is no grit and the daily rain makes a dangerous situation. Shower pressure is abysmal and there is no fan but the shower was clean.
The resort itself is bland. There are two smaller pools, two bars and a swim up bar. The recreation area was never staffed and the towels were mediocre.
The beach close to the resort is not the best. I suggest going down Tamarindo beach (about 1 hour drive from the resort) much nicer sand, shells, and wild life.
The most disappointing part of this hotel was the food, the restaurant would have things that didn t go together every night, such as a nacho topping bar with no nachos/taco shells or pasta with no sauce. Even the watermelon was bad.
The best part of the hotel was the drinks. The unlimited drinks were real fresh made drinks, even fancy frozen drinks.
We booked a snorkeling trip through the hotel for 70 dollars... which was ridiculous for snorkeling and you can get it on the beach for 40... which I suggest. But it was amazing either way. I got to swim beside and touch a leatherback turtle as big as me as well as hold a puffed fish. I also found some tiny hermit crabs on the beach we went too.

Overall I would never stay in villas sol again and it was pretty ridiculous for the price and location but it s an option. If you re the type to just hangout, look at the ocean below and drink it might be better for you...
