Richard Smith Review of Omni Hotel at CNN Center

If you look through the Omni s reviews, there is a theme. The valet parking is HORRIBLE. I ve stayed at this hotel around 6 times a year for the last five years. The valet has always been bad, waiting a minimum of 20 minutes to get your car pulled around and having to pay $35/night for the service . I ve stayed there twice in the last two weeks and the valet has managed to be even worse. As a matter of fact, when it comes to valet it can t be any worse. Two weeks ago, they lost the keys to my car. The valet attendants were unapologetic, uncommunicative (I found out they d lost my keys by overhearing a phone conversation after I d been waiting for half an hour) and seemed to be of the opinion that my frustration was completely unwarranted and that I was being a real downer. It took over 3 hours to get the key replaced and I still have to go to a Toyota dealership to get the key fob replaced. After hour 3 I finally got an apology, a little late if you ask me. Fast forward two weeks and I m staying here again with my family. We need the car so we call down to the valet to have them pull it around no answer. So we use the new test system they have rolled out. We get a text back after a few minutes that due to high volume they are not using the test system. Fine. We head down expecting to see huge crowds waiting for their cars. The valet lobby is empty and this is where the fun begins again. After waiting half an hour for the car and being assured it s just around the corner, the attendant asked what type of car and color. That seemed a strange question, since according to them a valet was currently in the car bringing it around. After another twenty minutes the attendant comes back, and I swear to God I can t make this up, asks Are you sure that is the color of your car? . Holy crap, this time they lost the whole car. On top of this the attendant is rude and giving us an attitude because we finally demanded they call us a cab as we were already late. Keep in mind we had been waiting for almost an hour and been fed a bunch of lies up to this point. When I brought the attendant s bad attitude and rude behavior to her boss s attention he wasn t surprised and nor did he appear care. Apparently, this is business as usual for the Omni valet and they have no desire to attempt to improve the horrible service. Fortunately, they were able to locate both the car and the keys by the next morning. No explanation was given. I sincerely believe that that they don t think they did anything wrong. Mistakes happen, but when there is no accountability for those mistakes there is a big problem. As for the hotel, it is overpriced but a decent place. The location can t be beat. However, the Omni Atlanta has gotten their last dollar out of me and I would strongly advise you to seek lodging elsewhere. That is unless you enjoy ridiculously long waits and dealing with surly, unapologetic, unprofessional, uncommunicative, unaccommodating people with bad attitudes that lack any sense of accountability.
