If I could I would give this center less than one ...

If I could I would give this center less than one star, I'm outraged! I was forced to put my dog into rabies quarantine for nipping at a police officer after my house was broken into. There was no blood shed and barely a bite mark, it was just a small bruise. The police officer walked straight into my yard without any concern of the animals, and being that someone had just attempted a burglary my pup was still nervous and saw him as a perpetrator.

I dropped him off at Austin Animal Center for his 11 day quarantine. They did give me a sheet that said at the bottom in tiny font that they're not responsible for any disease or illness my dog might contract during quarantine. I didn't think anything of it because i assumed such a place with so many animals was responsible enough to keep a clean, sanitary environment. I was soooo wrong.

When I picked my dog up, he was coughing and I didn't assume anything of it because I figured he just had something in the back of his throat. But as it continued I began to get worried. It wasn't just a regular cough, it was violent and he was vomiting a little bit at the end. It turns out it was bordetella, kennel cough!

It would've been one thing if the animal center had advised me to get this vaccine before dropping him off to quarantine, but they didn't say a word. They didn't even point out that he was subject to disease or illnesses like it said on the paper! They just quietly stowed him away and told me how much I was going to owe at the end of the 11 days.

What bothers me is that I now had to pay for the 11 day quarantine and then a vet fee after I trusted these people with my dog! Let me reiterate the fact that they should've verbally warned me about the risks, and asked if I wanted to vaccinate him for bordetella again before he was quarantined!!!

I am so frustrated with the service of this place. I understand that the quarantine was mandatory, but there should've been more warning before I left my dog in a cesspool.

Be advised! If at all possible do not quarantine or kennel your dog here! These people are shiesty!
