Let me start by saying THIS IS A DESTINATION when you're in Ybor City/Tampa, FL! Great atmosphere! Great music! Great food! A true Triple Threat!
Three of us arrived on an early Saturday afternoon for lunch. We all ordered The Real Cuban sandwich (homemade mojo roasted pulled pork, cooked ham and salami piled onto Cuban bread then layered with mustard, mayo, pickle and Swiss cheese and brushed with butter then pressed) something they are locally famous for. With that my sister and I ordered a bowl of Bacon Cheese Loaded Potato soup (their Broccoli cheese soup with potato, bacon and cheddar cheese baked in) and my wife ordered a bowl of Ybor Chili (slow cooked chili with Italian sausage, ground beef and pulled Cuban mojo pork with aged sharp cheddar) something else they are locally famous for. Everything was delicious!
For drinks I had the Cigar City Tampa-Style Lager (so good that when we left The Stone Soup Co I picked up a 6pk from Publix!) and the ladies had the Blueberry Lemonade Margarita. I finished lunch with a shot of Cafe Cubano (sweetened Cuban coffee) and the three of us shared a serving on Guava Niaddi Flan--yet another locally famous dessert.
The whole experience was wonderful and noteworthy but heads-up: It is on the pricy side. That being said there's a good reason for this as The Stone Soup Co actively participates in feeding the area's homeless as well as provides meals gratis for ER First Responders and church soup kitchens.
The next time we're here we will be returning and spending a few hours as they also have a well stocked bar!
