Generally nice, but not a five star

Generally nice, but not a five star

First off a little anecdote, which speaks to the mentality at the hotel: I accidentally left my credit card with the room card that I returned to reception. Never did anyone contact me nor return the card. No word whatsoever.

Thankfully I noticed my mistake an hour later at the airport and had the card voided immediately. However, I would expect any hotel - and especially a five-star - to notify me about my lost credit card.

Otherwise, the rooms are nice, breakfast is good. The lap pool appeared clean and was not too crowded. The other pools, however, had quite murky water with visibility of maybe five meters under water. Yuck.

You also need a little paper card to get a towel at the pool (do they have thieves as guests?) but it is easy to get as many cards as you want and nobody checks if you return the same amount of towels you handed in so the cards are just an annoyance without any benefit.

The executive lounge is a joke...they re-did it and while it now provides more room, the "food" options are even worse...it's basically nuts, vegetables and cheapo stuff like spring rolls. Maybe if you come one minute after opening you can get a chicken skewer...when I cam after half an hour, they were already gone. Fancy a drink? It'll have to be a long drink with gin, vodka or whiskey (cheapest brands) - or you might feel courageous and try their wines.

Pool service is fairly inattentive and keeps forgetting half the stuff. Well, I guess that's Malta - many staff seem to be students on a summer break trying to earn some money and have a good time.
