After breaking my left leg (both tibia and fibula, tibia came through the skin) in a climbing accident I was blue lighted to the emergency department here. Within just a few hours I'd had a CT scan, X-ray, had the bones realigned, had a temporary cast put on, and admitted to ward 30 for an over night stay. At the crack of dawn the next morning I was taken into surgery where surgeon Mr Neil Slater put an 18cm rod in my tibia which was fixed in place by two pins at either end. I then had to stay in the ward for an extra 4 nights.
5 weeks later, due to complications with the wound where the bone came through the skin I had to go back to the emergency department where they admitted me to the same ward that night and had surgery 2 days later.
I cannot fault this hospital at all. Through both my stays here all the ward staff have been very caring, kind and I even had a laugh with a few of them. If you ever have a choice of hospital to go to with an injury similar to mine, I recommend you come to The Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury
