Recruiters and account managers actively work against you and do not shy away from 50% and higher commissions for themselves while manufacturing a secondary market for IT workers. I was told, repeatedly, that commission rates for placement at regional apparel manufacturers are routinely %50+ for recruiters. Know what you are worth before you agree to anything and insist on knowing the rate your recruiter is billing the customer. 5-20% is more realistic for 6-figure positions.
