Eduard Ku era was Chairman of the Board of Directors since the transformation of the company into AVAST Software a.s. in December 2006 until January 2014. Since 1991, Ku era has been responsible for running ALWIL Software, which is the predecessor of Avast. From 1991 to 2009, he was also the Chief Executive Officer, managing the day-to-day running of the company, including the launch of the free program model in 2002. Pavel Baudis is a member of the Board of Directors since the transformation of the company into AVAST Software a.s. in December 2006. In 1988 Baudi wrote the original program, from which gradually developed all the security solutions that Avast offers. Since 1991, Baudi has played a key role in the development of the company. Prior to co-founding, Avast worked as a Graphics Specialist at the VMMS. Pavel Baudis has a Masters degree in Information Technology at the Prague University of Chemical Technology. Under the name Avast, the abbreviation of the phrase "AntiVirus Advanced SeT" is hidden because the original program in 1988 was written as a tool made up of many utilities. The term Avast comes from the naval and pirate slang and means "watch / stop".
Avast has been in the field of computer security for more than 25 years and is one of the oldest companies in this field. Its portfolio includes everything from free antivirus for PC, Mac or Android to premium products and services for businesses. In addition to the long-standing ratings of Avast's products on popular Internet portals around the world, their quality is also certified by many major companies such as VB100, AV-Comparatives, AV-Test, OPSWAT, ICSA Labs, and West Coast Labs .
