On June 19, my wife Diane had surgery at Tennova in Clarksville. I want to recognize this as the most positive experience we have had or that I have personally experienced in all my 62 years. I have visited many hospitals for various reasons over the years such as St Thomas West, Baptist (St Thomas Mid-town) Vanderbilt, the VA hospital in Nashville, Murray County Hospital, McFarland-Humana, Cookeville General, Nashville Memorial, Metro General, Meharry Medical, Clarksville Memorial, Fort Campbell on the post and many others. I have been a patient sometimes and sometimes a tech on a service call. I have visited family and friends and many hospice or palliative care patients with whom I have been acquainted. I know my way around hospitals. I know many doctors. The experience my wife and I have had at Tennova Clarksville was the most praiseworthy and remarkable experience I have had and including my wife, Diane, that WE have had. Dr. Donald Crawford was our surgeon this past month. We saw him no less than 5 times while we were in the hospital, before during and after the surgery. Dr. Timothy Duffin was also heartily involved and we spoke with him also before during and after the procedure. It was such a good experience that I believe the healing was already started before we went through the surgery. The attentiveness that both of our doctors demonstrated was above and beyond what we expected. I could see the sincerity in their faces and their eyes at each visit. That is a comfort! The nurses assigned to 'keep' Diane during the three days we stayed were highly professional yet amazing to talk with and they took so very good care to ensure Diane was monitored and attended while we were on the third floor. Rhonda especially but even the Chief Nurse came by to talk to us and asked about the care we were receiving. It was a QUALITY festival of care and concern. I felt as though we were treated like a member of someone's family but I had no previous ties to anyone of that sort. Being in the hospital is foreboding on a good day but our visit and our stay was peaceful, happy, and if I had to describe it in just one word, it was as if we were being "loved" by the doctors and the staff. I have seen many not-so-nice things in my life that I cannot un-see, but this was exceptional service and care and hope and attention that deserves kudos. I am aware of and I have personally heard negative comments that some individuals have made toward Tennova. But if Tennova was a melody, I heard not one sour note While WE were engaged. I hope this feedback makes it to your desk. The doctors and staff that we met (including Dottie in the surgical waiting room) were heads and shoulders above what I have seen or experienced before. I wanted to say so!
