Long story short, they pay you minimum wage which is not a competitive pay. Pay rates also differentiate between IFT cars and fire cars even though you're working the same job code. There are only four fire cars even though they claim there are five. The fifth they claim is a fire car is actually a twenty four hour IFT car that gets a typical maximum of two hours of sleep. While they have potential to run a fire call, they are very few and far between.
Yorba II is a terrible shift because it is posting a majority of its day when it is not running a call. The reason for this is because the unit is kept in Brea even though it is required to have a station at Yorba Linda & Imperial. Any time any other unit gets a single call, this unit will be posting.
Your paperwork is constantly under scrutiny by the billing department who's main goal is to make the calls more billable. This is the reason you're constantly called in for corrections.
There is no association or union and absolutely no direct deposit. Any mention of these will be sure to get you fired or on the bad side of management.
Lights must remain on in the stations until 5:30 pm. No TV or entertainment allowed until 5:30 pm. You're not allowed to sleep or nap especially in your bed until 8:00 pm. At no time are you ever allowed to workout or perform any means of healthful living while on shift. Entire uniform must remain on at all times until the sixteenth hour of your shift.
