I didn't know I had a debt in collections until I was served by the court. I negotiated a price and paid it off in 2 payments - but it was VERY hard to get a hold of someone. They never returned my calls even though I left several messages. Then, they tried to get me to pay the full amount due vs. What was negotiated. My advice: call OVER AND OVER until you get a person bc they will not return your messages.
