So this past September 15-22 was our 4th trip to WDW and our second to Pop Century. I Truly wanted to enjoy this time at Pop as mush as I did our first visit but it just didn't happen. I do like the renovated rooms but the service and attitude from the Cast Members this trip was less than decent Customer Service and the custodial staff NEVER ONCE swept the floors, wiped off a counter or any other flat surface for that mater and they flew through the room so fast they didn't even stop to read the "thank you for your hard work" note or take the tip we tried to leave them multiple occasions. At first I thought okay maybe they just didn't see it but it was taped with a post it note to the mirror and TV! The food court was filthy at ALL times of the day even when there was no crowd. The few questions we had at the counter were answered with eyes being rolled and shoulders being shrugged. My little group of 4 were getting ready to attend the MNSSHP on Tuesday the 18th and were approached by the custodial staff asking us something (not in English) we didn't understand and so we said have a nice day and closed our door. Later that evening I found a recorded voicemail on our room phone stating we had refused custodial services, UMMMM NO, we don't understand Spanish!!!
I guess I would rate the room refurbishment at a 4, the outlet and USB ports on my side of the bed and next to the TV didn't work. The service was at best a 2 and the overall week at Pop Century a 3.
Cast members in general at the resort and parks had a "screw you" attitude about them and I am thinking they may have forgotten we are the paying customers. I had an older Cast Member at the Alien Swirling Saucers tell my wife and I that she hated the crowds and wanted the Galaxy's Edge to open so we would all go there instead of Toy Story Land. My 21 year old daughter had a cast member murmur to her "I can't tell you where this lady is from" talking about one of the the Disney Princesses and her accent. The crew at Flight of Passage are more concerned with "herding cattle" so to speak than being friendly or pretending to care about the visitors in their parks.
I am kind of a WDW junkie. I have visited Silver Dollar City and other theme parks and I have shared with some of their employees that they could take lessons from WDW but I am starting to think perhaps I was a tad rushed to make that statement. Our final morning we were rounding up things and preparing to leave the room at around 9:20AM when the custodial staff entered our room through the adjoining door telling us we needed to leave so they could clean. Check out is at 11:00AM.
Please don't let my not so great experience at Pop or WDW change your mind about visiting the parks maybe this was just a rough week for WDW and I'll most likely be back God Willing and the creek don't rise, just not to Pop. We have done the Caribbean Beach (Aruba) resort before (2015) and loved it perhaps it's time for that again. visited 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018 plan on being back in 2021 Yes Every three years.
