Revisited The Lamb on Wednesday 23 September 2020 ...

Revisited The Lamb on Wednesday 23 September 2020 for my 66th birthday meal with my wife at lunchtime. The Lamb is running very sensible Covid secure operations including one way in and another way out , a chord across the doorway to make sure customers are escorted to the their table and hand solution machine ( foot operated in the lobby) .

A bar area is on the left of the main entrance doorway with three hand pulled real ales on offer including Doombar and Black Sheep beers. A further general drinking area is then past the bar whilst to the right is a large , well appointed dining area. We were escorted to our table by a friendly lady , who shared her birthday with me.

We decided to have a soup and main course . The soup was tomato & basil with artisan bread. Sadly the soup was only Luke warm and the bread was warm but rather odd in my opinion. The soup was topped with a bunch of fresh cress .

We paid our bill on the way out and told the lady in the bar that the drinks had been missed off . She added them to the bill and told us the new price ,we paid but the lady offered no thanks for our honesty .

The toilets are further to right up a flight of small steps , although a disabled toilet is alongside without steps. They are modern , clean , Covid secure with tape ensuring customers are at a safe distance. To the rear is a large sheltered paved area which has outdoor chairs and tables with umbrellas at each table.

Our general opinion is one of disappointment , although the waiting staff were pleasant and the environment is smart and comfortable. We felt the food could have been better .
