I moved out of Tucson in spring of 2013, and disconnected electric service at that time. A week ago, I received notice of a collection on the account. According to TEP, they mailed a final bill statement on Sept 3, 2013 - approximately 6 months after I had moved out of state, and outside the USPS forwarding window. They show no record confirming the disconnect I requested when I moved out. They show no additional attempts at contact over the intervening 6 plus years. I had literally zero idea I owed them a dime, and no way of knowing.

And yet this January, 2019, they sent the account to collections - a full six years after they claim the debt was incurred, impacting my credit dramatically over a measly hundred bucks and change.

If you're unfortunate enough to live in their service area, get solar panels. A lot of them.
