My family and I have stayed at Riverside Hotel num...

My family and I have stayed at Riverside Hotel numerous times over the years and always came in by boat. In the past, Riverside had never charged dockage fees if we were staying at the hotel. However, we made reservation for August to stay 2 nights in two rooms ($600+) for a party of 5, when I asked reservations about free docking, I was informed that dockage for our 30 boat should be free.

I wanted to confirm with the dockmaster leaving a voice mail for Michael (dockmaster/front desk manager), but after not returning my call, I called back and spoke to him and asked about docking for our stay. He then informed me there would be a $75 fee per night (and that it should be $150).

When I questioned the fee stating that we had never been charged before, he informed me the hotel was down over a million dollars in revenue and the fees were necessary to make up lost income, also claiming they always charged a fee, NOT true!

My frustration is that as a long-time patron of this hotel, return business in tough economic times with less than 50% occupancy plus empty docks, one would think Riverside would be more accommodating and welcome our business?!?

Instead, Michael was rude and condescending in his arrogance when asked about losing our business over a ridiculous dock fee. The audacity to charge this fee and losing our business for good is a matter of principle. He practically admitted this hotel was taking advantage of clients to make up lost revenue in any way possible, this is an appalling way to earn repeat business?!?

Just because people have a boat or come to Los Olas, does not mean their all wealthy or willing to be ripped off by incompetent hotel managers!
