Had a blast on the Gauley 5 years ago and had to come back with more friends. Probably better this time. Had a wild man in the campsite on the last night, but apparently there's a number [on the folder they give you] to text Security in the event you have the same happen to you. I didn't know that until the day I left.
We had a few folks in our party rent their tent from ACE. ACE staff set the tent up and took it down. Burn ban was in effect because of the current drought, but it was still a great time. Bring a thermacell for the bugs.
Make sure everyone in your party is down because a refund can be hard to get from these guys. With that said, I feel sorry for anyone that misses out on this trip. Best whitewater on the East Coast! If you have someone back out, just contact me. I'd love to take their place and get you pumped for this day!
