We arrived his evening at approx 7pm, 17th Sept, and we waited about 3 minutes at the host welcome station. We could hear staff talking, so my partner headed into the restaurant to see if there were any staff about to seat us.

A server saw us and headed over, I asked for a table for two; she seemed like she really didn t want to serve us and said I suggest you head over into the bar area , and started to address the people behind us.

Now, knowing how bars are in the USA (we were visiting from the UK) we hadn t brought our passports out with us as we were not planning on drinking at all.

The bar server greeted us when we sat down (it wasn t clear where they wanted us to sit). As he is meant to by law, he asked us for some photo ID. We only had our British Driving Licences, which of course are not permitted ID by the state. He asked us to move to another area of the restaurant. All in all, very embarrassing for us (we are 35 and 37 years old), as we weren t planning on drinking, just food. Had the original server actually cared to ask, or just seated us in the restaurant like we were looking for, then we wouldn t have felt embarrassed.

We decided to walk out, given the service was so poor, and not a reflection of the great service we had experienced elsewhere in Seattle.
