Samantha Symonds Review of Vincent van Gogh
We were able to purchase tickets right at the muse...
We were able to purchase tickets right at the museum, as we did not prepare ahead of time. When we went to the machine we were able to book slots of time when we would visit the museum, so there definitely isn't the feel of "stay as long as you want" but more of a structured "hurry through and get out we are very busy". There is a lot of physical security...almost to the point of distraction, I get that art is very expensive but the amount of security constantly standing around you and walking behind you and having 2 of them at every door frame takes away from attempting to get lost in the artwork and enjoying your time in the museum. The building is about 3 floors packed with a few hundred of Van Gogh's drawings and paintings. They have assisted tour guide devices so you can listen to the facts the museum has for you in the comfort of your own native language. Getting around the museum is very easy, it is a large building, open concept flooring and wide hallways so you aren't bumping into any one. As someone who isn't a huge art lover myself I had an enjoyable time and learned a good amount just from doing a casual walk through. I would suggest this as a destination to any one who simply enjoys art and has an hour or two of down time to go an enjoy what the museum has to offer. I would suggest arriving at 10AM like I did, there were no lines and I was able to go through the entire museum in an hour with no rush, when I was leaving however around 11 you could see the lines were getting longer.
