We have been receiving our HIP Plus coverage through MDWise. While not the worst it could be, in general I have not had the greatest experience with them. I occasionally get a very helpful, nice, professional rep on the phone when I call in (and when it happens it's an amazingly wonderful thing!), but more often than not I get someone who doesn't have a clue how to answer my questions, doesn't have access to the answer, or (just maybe) doesn't really want to help.
Their online payment system doesn't seem to have anyone monitoring it or fixing problems. Their efficiency in processing paperwork is astoundingly pitiful. (2 months and 3 calls just to get our medical cards). Expect ANYTHING moving through their system to take a long time.
The only real reason we are with them is that they were one of the few plans that our hospital system accepts fully for HIP. Their rewards system is somewhat bogus, as you have to reach goals of say, 50 points, in order to redeem for gift cards and your activities you do add up to 45 points, meaning they aren't worth anything until you get the 5 more that there is no activity for. Definitely would not use that as a reason to go with them.
On the positive side, I have never had trouble reaching them on the phone, usually I have very little to zero wait time. I have learned that you don't call on a Monday or a Saturday, and you get through very quickly.
They also issued our most recent statement late, which means our monthly payment due date gets delayed as well. Maybe a positive for some; I find it indicative of just how poor their efficiency and effectiveness is.
