Our family of four with two teens did an activity each day - snorkeling, hiking, Mayan ruins, etc... followed by pool and beach time then dinner. Really good way to be together with organized activities. Teens went to the lounge / pool area in the evening to use wi-fi.

Our snorkel outing started in a shallow area to allow us to adjust equipment. Then we moved to deeper water with fish among fantastic coral, some of the largest I've seen anywhere. The guides were helpful and flexible to adjust the experience to our abilities.

We enjoyed the Mayflower hike which is a challenging climb (3+) to a waterfall with a swimming area. The water is very clean and refreshing for a swim - I recommend wearing a bathing suit and taking swim goggles to see under water in the waterfall area (interesting, plus it will help you know where to put your feet). The Jaguar Preserve hike also includes a smaller waterfall and is an easier climb (also take swim goggles!).

We rode bicycles into Hopkins village several times which is about a mile on a gravel road. The resort also rents golf carts but we preferred the bicycles to get some exercise. There are several local souvenir shops, crafts, small restaurants and bars, and general stores. It's a friendly quiet town that is worth visiting to understand local culture.

The entire Hamanasi staff is above average in the hotel industry in many ways - they are friendly, customer-minded, and empowered. Many of them are long term employees that consistently demonstrate how much they care.

Thanks Hamanasi!
