I'll start off with the good: the location is excellent. A 2 minute walk away from a subway station and right opposite central park.

Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. The rooms are ok - however feel slightly like a prison cell. The air-conditioning is incredibly loud and difficult to operate and the floor looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 2010. They did at least have contactless keycards and a safe for every room. The top bunk is difficult to get into because both of the ladders were instructed in our room, and the beds make an awful squeaking noise when there is any movement whatsoever. It appeared that most of the (110v) sockets in our room had also been painted over - and one socket was actually hanging out of the wall.

The worst bit about this hotel, by far, is the bathrooms. I wouldn't mind a communal bathroom if it was done well - however these feel like a massive afterthought. On the 9th floor, there were 3 toilets and 3 showers (per sex) for the entire floor of around 60-70 rooms. To make this worse - only 1 of the showers actually had a showerhead on it. There were no temperature controls - meaning the shower went from freezing cold to boiling hot every minute, and the shower curtains are smaller than the opening - leaving a good few inches on either side that anyone could look through.

If you're coming to New York and care about anything more than location, I'd look elsewhere.
