Van der Valk Hotel Groningen-Westbroek is a somewhat unusual hotel. It consists of several buildings. The reception and restaurant are located in a different building than the hotel rooms. That is a small drawback: after having eaten deliciously warm by the fireplace, you have to go back to your room due to the rain and the cold ... There is nothing to be desired in the room itself. I had a Groningen Wealth room, a cheap room type, but even this one looked luxurious and expensive. Cozy furnishings, great bed and a luxurious bathroom with a spacious bath and separate shower even in this cheap room type. A few downsides: the beds are not too wide and the comforters downright narrow. Tasty turning in, is not in it. And if your room is close to the entrance, you will be awakened early by the sound of the sliding door in the building. A loud click from the relay and the heavy buzzing of the motor that drives the door ensures that you do not need an alarm clock. So request a room farther away from the entrance! I didn't like the desk in my room to work on. Too high and there is a not comfortable seat. Simply adding a good height-adjustable chair would alleviate this suffering. Now I have just been working on the bench, which is also in the room. Keep in mind that the hotel, like many other Van der Valk hotels, is in the middle of knowwhere. In the immediate vicinity there is nothing to do, you really need the car to drive to the city. Food in the restaurant is good and not expensive. As far as I know, the hotel has no special facilities such as a swimming pool, sauna or fitness room.
