I had a TERRIBLE time moving from Chicago to Virginia.
There were many things that went wrong. First, you'll be paying a lot more than your "estimated" quote. For us, it was double. And IMRG's moving partner, ABC Moving Systems, says that it's not an "estimated" quote; that it is the exact amount that I'll be paying.
This is contrary to what IMRG told me: they said that the costs are based on weight (which ABC denies), and that the final amount should be lower than the quote.
The extra costs come in at a bad spot: it was an additional $400 to move our items from their 18-wheeler truck to smaller shuttles. This is because the city restricts large vehicles from entering some city areas. This I understood, but the problem is that IMRG knew I was going to DC or Arlington, VA, so why hadn't they mentioned (or did the homework) that there will be extra costs here? It should have been part of the quote.
The second thing that really bothered me is that IMRG does a terrible job educating customers about the real costs of moving. I didn't know that a "long carry" charge would be $150 until I was forced to pay at pickup. I didn't know that $400 would be charged because they would have to use shuttles (and they knew where I was headed!).
The communication was terrible with their partner moving company, ABC Moving Systems. We set up for a Saturday pick-up, and ABC told us we have to be ready to leave on Friday. This is terrible news as we had already booked hotels ahead, and it's incredibly hard to cancel those. ABC would tell us this is not negotiable. IMRG would tell us it is. I felt at the end of this, I was doing their job, and they are not worth the money I'm spending on them.
This is a terrible service. If I could do this over, I would have done U-Haul with interstate moving. It's NOT worth it.
