Jared Greanya Review of Sirata Beach Resort

The main appeal of this "resort" is that it is literally on the beach with private beach access. The beach is pretty nice and we got 2 lounge chairs for free. One of the best things was the sunset gathering where they made a pre-mixed rum drink that they poured for free for 30 minutes; as much as you wanted. We only ate at the compass grille for breakfast, which we received for free through a Groupon and it was mediocre at best. The two main things that were underwhelming were how grungy the facilities and rooms were. It's clear that the buildings are very old and have had attempts at getting updated. Overall the rooms are not very nice, the bathroom sink faucet did not run well and many pieces of furniture were rotting where they met the floor. The beds were comfortable enough, however. The work out facilities were dirty and unkept. It smelled and the water fountain was suspect enough as to not use it at all. There was a lack of minimal equipment like floor mats. The second main complaint was the service. Throughout the entire resort no one seemed keen to care about helping the guests or going out of their way to make your stay more enjoyable. First we entered our room to find out that there were no hand towels and only one bath towel. We requested more towels repeatedly and it took over 6 hours to get more. The very next day they "refreshed" the room and took the towels we had without giving us new ones. It took another 6 hours and multiple requests to get more again. The room cleaning staff rolled their cleaning carts around the hallways leaving trails of drips all over the place; I definitely wouldn't have walked around barefoot, as much as that would have been nice. Lastly, the front desk was simply adequate but no where near welcoming or interested in going out of their way to help or care and the servers in the compass grille were unfriendly and seemed only interested in finishing their shift. The entire staff could use an overhaul and intensive training on true customer service. We will not be returning. On a similar note, while we were there, we met another couple from out of the country who had a disastrous experience here and had returned to the lovely area; while back in the area they returned here to attempt to wrap up the awful experience and the resort's unfulfilled promises to refund them for their stay. Clearly we got off easy and things could have been much worse.
