maybe 3 stars. Dwpends on what you are looking for. The room was like a hostel. The breakfast too. But damn good pastries offered. The wait for check-in in ridiculous. Thr location - can't be beat. Across from Madison square garden/ Penn station. Walkable to everywhere midtown and lower central park.
