Horrible experience for this to be a representation of a Marriott Hotel. I am a Marriott Rewards Silver Elite member. I checked into this hotel on 5/25/2017; for which I will notate a number of things that should not have transpired. Here goes my list: 1) upon check-in, I was not informed I would be charged $14 per day for parking; 2) the elevators were not functionally properly on 5/25, in which, if you stayed on the fifth floor, as I did, the elevator stopped on every floor (I felt for the guests who stayed on the ninth floor, and needless to say, no type of incentive was offered to guests for this inconvenience); 3) I had to request for wash cloths on four different occasions because when housekeeping made up the beds (didn't change the bed linens), they left no washcloths in my room. The first time I called to request for washcloths on 5/26, the young man brought me one. I then had to inform him that my daughter was also in the room. He left and came back with one more (it's not like I was looking to steal their washcloths); 4) there were bugs in the bathroom and this was not attended too; 5) the air conditioning in the room was poor and this was not attended too; 6) when calling the front desk, it took more than five rings for a clerk to answer. Once someone did answer, you could still hear the phone ringing which made it quite difficult for you to hear the clerk or for the clerk to hear you; 7) the fake fire alarm in the early hours of 5/27 was ridiculous (waking up guests), in which, no incentive was offered to guests for this inconvenience (it was explained that kids may have pulled the fire alarm while playing in the hallways); 8) the walls are so thin, I could hear the guests in the room next to me having wild and outrageous relations; and if I were in corporate espionage, I could have sold all of the secrets the guy talked about regarding his company; 9) the room service and Sundries charges are extensively overpriced (on the morning of 5/27, I went to the restaurant area to get bacon and orange juice. I was charged $13.62 for four pieces of bacon and an orange juice. While waiting, I observed a Caucasian male guest get into the buffet line, get a plate of food and a glass of orange. We both got on the elevator after I was given my food and he stayed on the fifth floor as well (room 522). I asked, "Is the buffet free?" He responded, "Yes, it's included every morning." I said, "Are you sure?" He said, "Yes, we were told this upon check-in." Once I got back to my room, I called the front desk and was told that buffet breakfast was a separate charge. I wonder why being that I'm African American?); 9) I gave 22 postcards to the desk clerk on 5/26/2017 and only twelve of them were delivered (none of them were returned to me for improper postage); and 10) I never received a survey from this hotel once I checked out on 6/4/2017. Since I stayed in room 513, they can check their records and verify who I am. Now, you may be wondering why I continued my stay after encountering these horrible events. First, my daughter has autism and it is quite difficult having to move her from place to place once she becomes settled. Being that persons with autism are routinized, their eating schedules cannot be interrupted. Second, there was a large Women's Convention in town that week and I was not able to find another Marriott hotel. Third, I was booked on a Family & Friends rate and I was informed by my friend that she couldn't issue me an additional discount certificate. In any wise, as the saying goes, first impressions are the lasting impression and this particular hotel will NEVER have to concern themselves with receiving my patronage ever again. I do not recommend this hotel unless it takes the opportunity to resolve these and other issues. Nevertheless, this doesn't deter me from the Marriott brand! (last name, White)
