DO NOT HAVE EYE SURGERY AT THE ALFRED HOSPITAL BEC...

DO NOT HAVE EYE SURGERY AT THE ALFRED HOSPITAL BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT THE WELFARE OF PATIENTS. I GIVE THEM ZERO STARS. I am in my 70s and on the age pension. I had uncomplicated cataract surgery on my right eye on 18 May 2017, and for the week after my surgery my eyesight was great in both day and night-time as the cataracts in my left eye were not too bad. Then I went for a post-op appointment on 25 May where eye test showed I had 6/12 vision in both eyes and still had good reading vision with my left eye. Immediately the test were finished, the orthoptist grabbed a bottle of eye drops and put a big splash in both my eyes without any warning and without giving me a reason for doing it. The next day the distance vision in my left unoperated eye had drastically reduced and when it got dark all bright lights were dazzling me and all bright objects were a blur, I saw streaks of light and halos everywhere and could not read any illuminated signs as they were too blurred. My vision of the night sky is completely ruined by distortions. If I had a car, I would not be able to drive at night. Both of my eyes were affected by this so it was very obviously caused by the dilating eye drops. 8 months later this has not improved but the hospital is refusing to acknowledge that my problem was caused by the careless and unnecessary use of dilating eye drops, and I am suffering severe depression and anxiety because my eye sight means everything to me.

I have recently seen the Head of Opthalmology, Anthony Hall, and he refused to answer when I asked him why the dilating eye drops were splashed into both my eyes, and refused to talk about the serious night vision problems I am still experiencing. He then discharged me from the hospital because I want my eye problems fixed before I have more cataract surgery. This hospital very obviously could not care less about the welfare of patients and I would advise anyone needing cataract surgery, DO NOT HAVE EYE SURGERY AT THE ALFRED HOSPITAL BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT PATIENTS' WELFARE.
