I recently stayed at the Hyatt House Anaheim as a client (room 455) from Tuesday May 21st to Friday may 24th 2019.
During this stay I contracted SCABIES a parasite that is highly contagious who s symptoms include extreme itch and rash.
As soon as this was diagnosed on Monday May 27th I reached out to the Hyatt House Anaheim to alert them of the situation and to make sure that measures would be taken to avoid any further contamination.
I spoke at this time with manager Joshua Teregis, cc d on this email, who told me that measures will be taken immediately to have an expert in decontamination come to assess the problem and obviously destroy the parasite present. He told me that I would be informed as soon as such measure would be in motion.

I have spend the past few days receiving treatment at the hospital and getting very intense itchy sensation and severe skin rash all over the body. I haven t been able to go to work due to my contagious state neither to stay in my own house to avoid contaminating my pregnant wife to the parasite. Because she may have been exposed prior to the diagnosis she had to take the treatment preventively and went through a lot of stress as well as time off work.
On top of this stressful situation I had to pay for the treatment and lost a week of wages as I was unable to go to work.

I can strongly presume that I had contracted this during my stay at the hotel and not before as no one in my house or any of my close friends/coworkers are showing any signs of it (luckily). The speed at which the symptoms appeared suggest a repeated exposure to the contamination source, which would make sense with the number of nights I spend in the same bed.

Since Monday 27th I haven t heard back from the Hyatt House Anaheim. I called the hotel on Wednesday 29th to have some updates and was told that M. Joshua Teregis was not available but was given his email contact.
I then sent an email to which I didn t receive any answer and haven t been contacted by phone either.
I called earlier today and spoke to M. Teregis.
I was informed that the expert in decontamination had not been to the hotel yet and that the situation was yet to be assessed.
This is a serious health issue as this parasite extremely contagious and I find this absolutely ridiculous that no measure was taken by now.

I was told as well that the hotel would not acknowledge the situation or be liable as long as no proof could be found that the contamination was present in the room.
I find this very practical that the expert did not come earlier especially as scabies mites usually do not survive more than 48-72 hours without human contact.
I was told that nothing would be done to make this right by me as long as nothing could be proven.
I do not think that is something anyone should be expecting to get while staying in a hotel like yours and I really did not appreciate to receive such a non-sympathetic customer service to a very serious complaint from a hotel manager. I have not even received an I am sorry and feel as if I have been given the run around while your employees sweep this issue under the rug.

After weeks of waiting around they told me through their insurance company that after investigation there was nothing they could do.
Not even a "sorry"...
