Visiting Charleston is a common theme for my girlfriend and I. During a road trip to Charleston we wanted to stay at a luxurious hotel downtown near everything!
So we chose the Francis Marion Hotel.
Our stay was great!
The room was old-fashioned and comfortable!
The staff are very friendly, and will have conversations with you.
The history the hotel is incredible, and we even heard a story that the hotel is haunted, which added an excitement factor for us.
The best thing about the Francis Marion is the location. You can literally walk anywhere! And there is a Walgreens around the corner for any needs that you have.
There is a restaurant available downstairs as well.
We did have two problems during our stay.
First problem actually happens on our last night. But it didn t ruin the experience.
It stormed outside, and we ended up having two cockroach type insect crawl into the room. They were huge!!!
We alerted the front desk, and they were very apologetic, and gave a new room.
It s definitely not their fault, but it can definitely startle you at first. But come on! We re down south! Insects are everywhere.
Our second issue occurred at the parking garage in where we got charged $36 for parking our vehicle. The advertisement did state $20, but every night ended up charging us $36 dollars. And we stayed for 4 nights, so ouch!
But the hotel management was great, and gave us back the money for parking, which was extremely generous.
Besides that, our stay was great, and if you guys want a nice view, try to get a high floor room facing the park.
You will not regret it, and you will not regret staying here.
