Had an awful experience and here's why:
1. False Advertisement: I booked a room believing I am booking this room because that's the room that was advertised (Exhibit 1& 2), but instead I got that (Exhibit 3). Imagine my disappointment, as in the advertisement it was NOT mentioned that you can get a worse room. But wait, it gets worse:
2. Sloppy Rude Staff: When I called the front desk and explained that's not the room I wanted, they bounced me from a concierge to a concierge (5 times to be exact), then I got mad and asked to speak to a manager, got put on hold for 15min.I knew the staff didn't even bother letting the manager knowing simply put me on hold. Then I called again. Asked to speak to the manager, never got to the manager because the lady said pretty much "too bad, the nicer rooms are unavailable", so I gave up.
3. Unacceptable Service Level: there was NO TOOTH PASTE in the room. I called again the front desk, they said they would bring it up. I couldn't go to bed without brushing my teeth. It took them an HOUR to bring it upstairs and it was already 1 am when I finally could go to sleep
4. Parking: they told me the parking lot next to the hotel was full and I had to park far and take a shuttle bus. It was raining, I was tired from the long drive and I was not walking or taking a bus with all the luggage. The parking guy eventually gave up and said "here, park wherever you want". Well, let me tell you this - the parking lot was not full at all. AND I didn't pay for parking. Moral of the story is - insist on getting an appropriate service level, otherwise they will simply brush you off.
It is unfortunate that the staff is so relaxed and sloppy during this economic downturn, when they should care about every single guest to keep the hotel busy and to keep their jobs. Nothing was done about any of these issues - that's simply poor hotel management. I thought Hilton was a decent hotel, reputable name and all... (in Toronto at least it is decent), but I was wrong. I payed a little less than $200 for one night, while the average was $118. I am okay to spend money but I require some value in return. Sadly, this hotel did not provide me with that.
