While the scenery of the surrounding area is beaut...

While the scenery of the surrounding area is beautiful the resort itself is not what I expected. The resort is VERY spread out and you have to pretty much drive everywhere once you leave your room. Depending on what section of the resort you are on there is no walking to the pools because you are miles from the pool areas up steep hilly roads. We came to check in at 11am and were told that we couldn't check in until 1pm but also that the room is not guaranteed to be ready until 4pm. This didn't make me happy. Luckily our rooms were ready at 1. They have pools that you can access for free but literally every other activity they offer is a separate and sometimes expensive fee. They offer an activity card for $99 per adult and $79 per child to access a larger selection of activities that are offered on the resort otherwise you have to pay for each activity separately. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time so we could see what activities were offered but enjoyed ourselves anyway. The adults don't drink or play golf so the tours and golfcourses weren't a draw for us. If you choose not to participate in the resorts activity package there isn't anything else to do but go to the pool. We stayed in Eagle Trace and the two 1 bedroom units we had were more than adequate for the 9 of us. They were quite spacious and all 3 of the sofas were pull out beds so we had a total of 3 beds in each unit. 2 beds and one sofa bed upstairs and a one bed and 2 sofa beds downstairs. One had a full kitchen and the other had a mini kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator. All of the spaces were clean and stocked. The views were beautiful and the wild life was abundant which was nice for us city dwellers to enjoy. Although we had a good time I don't know that we would make this a regular vacation spot but again, the views in the area were totally worth the trip.
