I had a long business trip in Vancouver and stayed at the Sandman for 25 days.

First of all, the wifi is very weak. I was told that as you go above 8th floor, the wifi gets weaker. So, if you are on business travels and need to connect to the internet make sure you get lower floors for the wifi. I had to use the nearest Starbucks for wifi.

Second, there is construction going on nearby and it is the rooms facing the YMCA hotel. I think it will take a year or so for the completion. So when booking, ask for a room that is not facing the YMCA side. See photos of the contruction. It can be quite noisy in the early mornings.

It is cheaper than other hotels so if you are staying for 1-2 days, I think it would be OK but I would not recommend this hotel for any business travellers.

I really had it with the wifi.

I am sure all the staff probably knows me as the guy complaining about wifi. But what kind of hotel has problems with providing good wifi for guests?

Also watch out for the windows in the room. I stayed in a room with a window which had gap bewteen the glass and the window frame. During strong winds, the glass would rattle and I was really scared that the glass would fall off.
