JoAnna Hulett Review of Junipers Restaurant

I made a reservation for our party of 7 more than a month in advance and specifically requested a table in the front dining room of the restaurant. The host who took the reservation said that there would be no problem accommodating our request. We made this request because we have visited Juniper before with a large party and we were seated in the back of the restaurant where we were crammed into a small corner table against an outside wall. The back of the restaurant is essentially an outdoor patio space that is enclosed by a canopy. The heating is supplied by ceiling coil heating units, and some portable space heaters, therefore the temperature is not consistent throughout the space. The table where we sat was cold and drafty, thus we were very uncomfortable throughout our meal. This is why we requested a table in the front dining room of the restaurant on this visit. Well, when we arrived, we once again were seated in a cramped corner table that was against two of the outdoor-facing canopy walls. The restaurant was full, so there was no way we could have been sat in any other location. We were disappointed with the fact that despite making our reservation and seating request more than a month in advance and being promised the front room, we were sat in the exact space where we had the poor experience previously, and the staff did not acknowledge or apologize for the inconvenience.
As far as the food is concerned, the quality and taste of the meal was excellent. The portions, however, were lacking, especially for the price. Specifically, the $16 butternut squash ravioli appetizer had 3 small ravioli. I understand that the dish is an appetizer, but it is ridiculous to serve 3 meager-sized ravioli and call it a dish of any kind.
Our experience with the atmosphere and level of service at the restaurant was 2-star at best. The food was a 4-star experience (besides the meager portions), thus the 3-star rating for this review.
