While I've been to Peru, I didn't get a chance to try the ceviche while I was there. I was in San Francisco for a business trip and stumbled upon this little gem. This is definitely the best Peruvian food I've had outside of the country, and the whole experience was amazing from start to finish.

Not only was the food on point, but the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere that seemed (if this is even possible) to be intimate and open at the same time--and our server, Nick, was absolutely phenomenal. He had great recommendations on both the cebiche and the desserts, and we chatted about La Mar's sister restaurant in Chicago (Tanta) and some other great Chicago eateries.

Next time I'm in San Fran, I'm definitely coming back here--maybe I'll try the empanadas next.
