I bought a car from this dealership last week. As I was in the process of getting the deal finalized I thought of exploring the option of getting car loan from the dealership itself. But wasn t getting a good rate, so eventually I thought of getting the loan from a Financial Institution, that I work for and told the Finance Manager that I don t want to proceed with the dealership loan and this was on May 13, 2020. On May 14, 2020 I received a call from another Finance Manager stating that you have been approved for a VW Credit Loan. I was surprised to receive that call, rather SHOCKED, as I refused to get a loan from them. When inquired how I got a good rate (way higher than what I was getting from my bank), I was told that they did Credit Bureau Check, which was without my consent. No one from the dealership called me to get my consent, written or verbal and pulled the bureau. When I went to the dealership the same evening and was discussing about this to the sales manager, Jonathan, he started arguing for no reason. He was not even our sales manager. As a sales manager, I suppose, he should have been polite and understanding instead he was on top of his voice and even asked us to cancel the deal for the trade, that we were doing to get the new car. In the end, he told us that he will be following up on this matter and will get back to me on Tuesday, May 19, after the weekend. His Tuesday never came. Infact my husband went to the dealership for some work on Tuesday and this guy completely ignored my husband and did not come in front of him.
In my opinion and the knowledge that I have, Credit Bureau without consent is a crime. And if reported, can have negative impact on the business.
This is just a review because I never received a call back from the dealership nor I got an apology for the mistake they did. Hoping to receive a call from Jonathan, the sales manager, after this review.
