Review of Eagle's Trace

When it became apparent that I had to move my 80 year old parents with dementia into an assisted living facility, my wife and I researched providers for months. Eagle s Trace stood out by far as the best choice. My parent s needs are significant, our facility expectations are high, and the staff at ET continues to rise to meet each challenge we present. We are daily grateful that we did not make the mistake of moving them into any other place.

They re in a safe gated community with no house-related worries (crime, maintenance, repairs, bills, etc). Their apartment is spacious and comfortable. Pets are welcome. The staff is are respectful, polite, and caring. There are lots of things to do an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, and many scheduled activities, so they can choose to be active or to relax.

Card and other games (good for dementia patients) are ongoing throughout the day, they have arts and crafts, there s an on-site movie theater, and weekly bus excursions off-campus for lunch. A shuttle can take them, accompanied by an aide, to the independent living center where they have access to their bank, the library, the pool and hot tub, the drugstore, and the salon.

One of our biggest reliefs is that the center provides full medication management. All prescriptions are delivered to them when and how prescribed, without my parents ever having to touch them. This has helped improve their health significantly. Contributing to their improved health, dietitian-managed meals are prepared and served fresh, with several choices. They can eat in one of the dining rooms to enjoy the social interaction and can also be served in their apartment if they can t make it to a dining room. Healthy snacks are available at all hours.

One of the best offerings of ET is their age-in-place capability. My parents actually started in independent living but after three months it became clear that they weren t capable of independent living. In most other facilities they would have had to leave and move into an entirely new living center. But at ET, it meant just a short move down the street to the Bayou Vista Continuing Care building for an apartment in assisted living. If their mental health deteriorates, Bayou Vista has an onsite memory care facility which means only another short move that doesn t require them leaving the facility. They also have onsite Physical Therapy and a Skilled Nursing center. We have confidence that this is truly the place where my parents can live for the rest of their lives.
