Amrita Nagarajan Review of Selfridges

For the exceedingly high reputation this store has, we were greatly disappointed with our experience. I felt as though there was an element of complacency within staff and they lacked interest when it came to attending to our needs and answering our questions. This was also perceived through their blunt behaviour. The climax of our experience was at the tax refunds office. Receiving a tax refund is a process that involves getting a ticket stamped with a number and waiting for that number to be called which indicates that it is my turn to go to the desk. One minor mistake that a lady made costed us an abundance of time. The lady at the reception had our number printed with the ticket upside down and at the time, she did not notice either! She said that the number was 60. We waited for about half an hour and when our number was called, someone had a ticket with the same number as us! At this point, we were informed that the ticket number was 06! We were tired, frustrated and thoroughly annoyed!! This isn't even the end of our shocking experience! We received another ticket and the same thing happened again. The receptionist gave the ticket with the number printed upside down and did not notice. He told us that it was 66 when in fact it was 99. We found this out in the early stages when we saw another person with the same number as us. What I found disappointing was the fact that the staff weren't accommodating for the mistakes that they made. We had to wait for a new ticket each time! When we entered the food court, we thought that for the high prices would result in good food! We paid a hefty price and ended up with three small spring rolls dripping in oil. I would recommend asking questions in regard to the portion size before purchasing a food item. It definitely was a dreadful experience, but it was one to remember!
