I got a chance to work in the clinical lab for few months. It was a disaster. The hospital is the biggest in northern Nevada (close to a 1000 beds) and has a state of the art machines and equipments. However, the hospital is poorly managed and it's crying out loud for help. It desperately needs new and proficient management.
Employees in this hospital are unappreciated, overworked and underpaid and no one in the uper management seems to care. It also lacks racial diversity. As a result, the hospital has higher turnover rate (more than any organization I have ever worked). While I was there, two lab directors, one supervisor and five employees left in the clinical lab. However, upper management has done nothing to fix it other than making false promises year after year. The other thing which pazzles employees and no one seem to have an answer is why the organization prefer to invest on travellers over full-time employees. In some departments, travellers constitute more than half of the workforce. Even though travellers cost the hospital more than double of what they pay for full-time employees and their contract is only for 13 weeks. Hence, I would not recommend anyone to work for this hospital unless you want to use it as a transition. It's simply not a good environment to work.
