This place is called Ace for a reason, it really is ace. We camped two nights and did the Upper Gauley rafting. With regards to the camping: The check-in was quick and easy, the campsite was clean and had plenty of space, the showers were boiling hot, the communal facilities (stores, bar, etc.) were all very high standard, and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. The rafting: it was an early start, and a very cold morning (we did it on BRIDGE DAY), we rented all the clothing that was available and it really helped. Kevin was our trip leader and we were also in his raft. He gave a great history lesson / safety briefing on the bus to the 'put-in'. He was funny and kept everyone focused and attentive, but was serious when he needed to be, a true professional. We felt safe all day, despite being in Class 5 rapids swirling, dipping and diving. It was an absolutely awesome day: truly beautiful scenery, great people, so much fun, beers on the bus ride home, and a really good video at the end of it all. Thanks everyone!!
