This place has forever changed my opinion of shelters. I too had believed the old stigma of shelters in general. After a very bad experience with dropping a dog off I was bound and determined to not ever adopt from here. Thanks to the grace of God, my child needed volunteer hours for school. So begrudgingly I agreed to volunteer here with him. BOY WAS MY THOUGHTS WRONG!!!!!!!! I quickly realized what I had always thought of FVHA was very wrong. In 6 short months, I made volunteer of the month, my son made junior volunteer of the month, I got hired on to care for the cats we took to PetSmart. I now am a full time adoption specialist, the people who tarnished my opinion of FVHA, have since been let go, and I get too see first hand how very dedicated the shelter is on finding each and every animal a home. I can now say WE love each and every animal and will everything in our power to find a furever home. No matter how long it takes. These animals are spoiled rotten. FVHA is a beautiful wonderful place. I highly recommend anyone who is unsure about shelters to come visit us. Ask for a tour. We will gladly give you one and answer any questions you may have. I have family members who adopt from FVHA. infact....I've gotten 9 birds.
