I just moved to Fort Worth and so I had to go to this clinic to register there. I also did not yet have a veteran's ID even though I was being seen already at another VA Clinic where I used to live. When I arrived at the extremely nice Fort Worth VA Outpatient Clinic I thought for sure that I would be treated well. Instead what I experienced was a complete disrespect for myself, and other veterans. While waiting in line to get registered which took approximately one hour and 15 minutes, a lady that was behind the registration desk asked if anyone needed an ID. I walked up there as I did need an ID as well. She abruptly asked me what my number was (we were given a square thing like they use in restaurants that lights up and vibrates when it's your turn..except these didn't light up, they simply had a number on the bottom of it, that was supposedly going to be called when it was my turn), and I showed her the item and she very rudely said that that number was for registration, she was asking who needs an ID. I politely responded and said that Ma'am I do need an ID as well. She then asked if I had registered yet. I explained that I had not yet there in Fort Worth but that I should be in the VA system as I had already been to another VA clinic. She responded by saying, "that was not what I asked you, I said have you registered here". I said no ma'am I have not, and she said, "Ok, well then go sit down, and when you are done registering then in 24 hours you can come back to get an ID made". I said, Ok, but that she did not have to speak to me in that way, and she rolled her eyes back at me. I went and sat down before I went from nice to not so nice. I have no problem with policy, or the way things are supposed to be done. I am sure that everything that she said was completely true and accurate, but it was the way in which she said it that was extremely disrespectful. She said that her name was Joann. Look, when it comes to customer service, especially of our veterans this is a disgrace. I thought with the recent VA scandals going on that there would be an extra care placed on how they handled us veterans, but if this is how they are treating us with scrutiny I can only imagine how bad it has been. I was completely dis-satisfied with my service received at this outpatient clinic and am terrified that this is where I am supposed to receive VA care for the duration of the time we live here. If you are that unhappy with your job, then quit, but do not make the service veteran pay for your unhappiness.
