I am posting this because I went with this company BECAUSE of the positive reviews and had the exact opposite experience. My experience was that Genz-Ryan was
fraudulent on the services they provided
fraudulent on the bill regarding these services and
fraudulent on the repairs that would be needed on our water heater and furnace.

In addition I accrued an additional $2704.84 in costs as a result of Genz-Ryan s refusal and/or inability to complete the services they agreed to.

Here is a brief summary of what happened:
3/24/14 Called Genz-Ryan as there was water on the floor of my utility room. They sent a serviceman out. He told me that both the water heater and furnace were leaking and showed me both leaks and recommended repairs of both water heater and furnace, and install a water softener at his suggestion all at the cost of $3,277.00. He told me the fixes that he performed on the furnace would last indefinitely.

3/28/14 The furnace stopped working. Specifically it would not hold and maintain a temperature. (For example when it was set at 72 degrees it wouldn t go above 62 and it dropped as low as 57 all when the outside temperature was below freezing.)
My wife and I both called several times during the day asking first for him then for the manager without receiving a phone call back until much later.
The servicemen returned and told my wife that the furnace motor was now broken and could be repaired (for $1,800) but would continue to breakdown or we could replace the entire unit for $8,000 something never indicated on 3/24. When reminded that he had told me that his original fixes would last indefinitely he said he couldn t see into the future. I asked him to have the manager call me since she had not returned my calls.
3/31/14 Monday morning I awoke to my basement flooded with 4 inches of water. I called Genz-Ryan asking for the manager but was continually sent to her voicemail. Eventually the manager, called and told me that the flood and furnace issues (which they were hired to resolve) were not the problem of Genz-Ryan. She then stated they did not fix the furnace!! (A second electrician I had to hire demonstrated that the furnace was in fact serviced: flame sensor was cleaned, Piping was sealed from leaking water.) I asked for a breakdown of costs as I felt I should not have to pay for services they did not provide and was told they could not break items down that I purchased a package deal. I told her I would not have purchased the water softener if I knew all these problems were going to happen.

4/3 I had to have an electrician out to fix the furnace since it was still not working and it was confirmed that the furnace had water damage and had been serviced recently. He fixed it for $98 dollars.
4/4 Insurance adjustor came to house and noticed that there was a leak in the newly installed water softener that could have also been a contributing cause. Immediately called Genz-Ryan to fix this leak.
4/7 Genz-Ryan fixed leak on water softener but still took no responsibility for their numerous other errors.
4/8 Waiting to get entire basement restored at unknown cost.

Here is the breakdown of costs:
Genz-Ryan: 3,277.00 (for services not provided and/or completed)
Additional costs accrued as a result of Genz-Ryan s refusal or inability to complete the services they agreed to:
Second plumber: 722.00
Coit: 1884.84
Electriain: 98.00
Total Additional Charges Accrued: 2704.84
