My dog would have died if we hadn't gone elsewhere...

My dog would have died if we hadn't gone elsewhere. Do not trust the lives of your pets with Dr. Flanders. Maybe for day-to-day checkups he would be fine, but the low prices aren't worth it when it comes to real health issues.

My dog hadn't eaten and wasn't taking water, and after a day of this, we took him to Dr. Flanders. They did give my dog a quick shot for the dehydration, but after one ultrasound, Flanders declared that my dog had a large tumor in his abdomen and that this was causing the problem. No real encouragement to continue treatment. Nor did he bother calling to check up on my dog the day after this news. (It was DAYS later that someone from Dr. Flanders' office took a minute to call and check on my dog. For all they knew, my dog could have died of dehydration during that time!)

Luckily, that night, as my husband and I were trying to nurse our dog through the night and make him more comfortable, we went to our emergency vet down the street to try and get him on an IV. Imagine my surprise when they offered actual treatment and did NOT act as if our dog was one paw in the ground.

And the kicker? My dog did have some fatty tumors, but the reason he wasn't eating or drinking was because he had eaten pillow stuffing. PILLOW STUFFING, for God's sake. They removed it without surgery, and now my dog is as healthy as ever.

If this case had been left in Dr. Flanders' extremely dismissive and incapable hands, my perfectly healthy dog would now be dead. If you're going to Dr. Flanders, be sure to get a second opinion on things. Or just don't go at all and spend your money on a veterinarian who isn't as quick to write off pets as one would put down a sick farm animal.
