as someone who was born and raised in Colorado i never knew this place exsisted. my wife found it today online while looking for something to do out of the norm with our kids. Although the ticket price is exspensive (expected, feeding that many animals plus staff plus god knows what else) and donations are still asked for on top of it (cause the government doesnt provide aid) its still worth it. these animals are wild so nothing is asked of them other than to exsist. most have been around humans or in cage's their whole life until entering the sanctuary and so the fact that they can just be animals with out loosing their damn mind or wondering when food is when the next shock or beating or etc etc. is awesome. I would suggest bringing binoculars there are alot of animals decently far away from the walk way but when you have surprise rescues of entire circuses/other "sanctuaries" you do everyhting you can. i can't stress enough this is not a zoo. these animals are allowed to be animals sleeping running do whatever they when ever they want.. i really enjoyed my self and got some decent shots my kids liked it too. i would suggest anyome who hasnt been here atleast once to plan on spending half a day to just soak it all in.
