This is a tough review to write due to the pros and cons. Historic, build in 1900s, rebuilt in the 60s. Sits on Cal Hwy 1 in small village of Davenport. Not many rooms and not all have tv. But you are not here to be in side
Our room was fine but, most of the ocean view is blocked by a building across the street, deck is comfortable.
Only about a dozen rooms, no night manager So, you are on your on after the restaurant closes.
No sink plug or plug for tub, loved the robes.

Ocean is across the street with beach access to wide sandy beach surrounded by cliffs, very beautiful views or just soak up rays on the beach.
Very rough trail, slippery, not paved, no toilets at beach area. No wheelchair access.

The Roadhouse sits at top of hill at an intersection.
That is part of the problem, can be noisey from trucks coming up the hill and Hwy 1 can be very busy on weekends, summer. Santa Cruz city bus stops at the intersection, so you can ride bus in the area but, you have to put up with the noise of it coming and going.
Restaurant is fantastic! Some unique dishes and some basics. Raise their own herb garden on property. Bakery, wood fired pizza oven. Sadly in spring breakfast isn't till 9 a.m. but Whale City is easy walk and opens early. Bar mostly serves beer and local wines and some hard stuff. Wine tasting room next door. Staff were great.
