I avoid REACH if at all possible. There is another vet on the other side of Asheville that is open till 11pm every day so if you have an emergency late at night, go there! REACH is EXTREMELY expensive and they WILL turn you away if you can't pay the full price (what they estimate it'll cost to treat your animal) up front. As in, they are not going to do a single thing for your pet until you pay in full. Beyond that, the care is lousy. My dog had to spend a night there on an IV after surgery (because the vet that did the surgery doesn't have anyone there overnight) and we went to see her. She had poop on her and she was crying constantly. I pointed that out to them and they said "she's fine, just let us handle this." Clearly my dog was in pain and they brushed it off. That 18-hour stay, just keeping her on IV fluids, cost $800. No kidding. Unless you have a true emergency (remember that many vets will take emergency calls in the evenings/weekends) AND can pay up front, don't take your pet here.
