I had problems with my clutch on my VW jetta, sticking occasionally.
I called Baxter as I figured if it needed a part they would have it instead of having to wait for a part to come in. The day I took my car to Baxter, I didn't have any problems driving it over there, however, when the service guy drove it into the shop he said "wow, I'm surprised you got it over here, I had a hard time driving into the shop." (Again, it didn't stick at all the entire drive over to Baxter that morning). I was told I would be called in a couple hours as to the diagnosis. Around noon after not hearing from them I called them and I was told that they "couldn't replicate the symptom" in the shop and that they needed to talk to the guy that drove it in to the shop to see what it had done that morning. They called me back later in the afternoon and said that after talking about it between the tech and the guy that drove it in that they had determined that it needed an entire new clutch which involved "dropping the transmission etc". When I asked what this would cost me they quoted me $2500.00. I told them I would be coming back out to pick up my car. Meanwhile I called a couple different repair shops and was told that it didn't sound like an entire new clutch was needed but they would have to be sure. Long story, short, I took it to another repair place and they replaced the clutch master cylinder to the tune of $450. So....$2,000 difference later, my car is repaired and I won't be going back to Baxter service ever, and highly recommend anyone else to get a second opinion before having anything repaired. And also, this site wouldn't let me post this review without clicking at least one star, which I really don't feel they deserve.
