Let's start out... We arrived 15 minutes early to a surprise party hoping to be sat at the hibachi table we had reserved a week prior so that when the birthday girl came in we would all already be there and waiting. Instead, the hostess and manager made us wait until everyone was already there, essentially ruining the surprise. Our waiter was great; fully capable of handling the large group and very attentive. The chefs were very entertaining, and the food tasted pretty good. When the bill came, however, is where they really went above and beyond. Our aunt was charged for two hibachi meals, but they added two hibachi "charges" on top of that at $5 each, then added another two $5 split charges. One was for their 4 year old son, and the other their 1 and a half year old younger son. For two people to eat a hibachi meal, with two soft drinks, and the added automatic gratuity, our bill was $95. If this meal was worth that much, I would never complain. It wasn't even until today that I fully made my decision to never return to Atami, as I spent the better part of my day nursing a stomach turning over faster than the spinning spatulas and fire-volcano onion ending I was charged so much for. I was hoping that after the recent shutdowns by the health department things would have gotten better, yet the old "fool me once" adage seems to still apply here.
