I highly recommend visiting the Cahokia museum along with the mounds. The museum can take about a hour to see everything but it is worth it. There are several mounds in the area to see. The largest has steps to the top. It is the largest man made mound in the world. Great views of the surrounding area and lots of native history. You can see the Arch when on top even though it is about 15 miles away.
